An island in the Swain Group, about 5 km north-east of Wilkes station. The region was photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47), ANARE (1956) and the Soviet Antarctic Expedition (1956). The feature was included in a ground survey by C.R. Eklund in 1957. Named by USACAN after a member of the 1957 Wilkes party, aerographer's mate P.A. Wyche, USN.
