Island 0.5 mi long, lying S of Chappel Island in the Donovan Islands. First mapped from air photos taken by USN Operation HighJump, 1946-47. Named by C.R. Eklund for Lt. Sheldon W. Grinnell, MC, USNR, medical officer at Wilkes Station, 1957.
