This name originates from United States of America. It is part of the United States Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Small island at the S entrance to Robertson Channel in the Windmill Islands. First mapped from air photos taken by USN Operation HighJump and Operation Windmill in 1947 and 1948. Named by the US-ACAN for Chief Fire Patrolman Russell B. Griffith, USN, a member of the Wilkes Station party of 1958.
