Delineated from air photographs taken by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47) and called Blunt Cove by USACAN after S F Blunt, passed midshipman on the sloop Vincennes, one of the ships of the US Exploring Expedition (1838-42) under Lieut. (later Rear Adm. C Wilkes), USN.
