An island in the Swain Group about 5 km north-east of Wilkes off the Budd Coast. The region was photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47), ANARE (1956) and the Soviet Antarctic Expedition (1956). It was included in a survey of the islands north of Wilkes carried out by C R Eklund, scientific leader at Wilkes in 1957.
Named by USACAN after Lt Donald R Burnett, USN, Military Support Unit Commander, Wilkes, 1957.
